Behind the screens:

Quite a long time of 2 years since we had seen Sridevi on silver screen. Now she came back with movie MOM. Let us see how the movie is??

Story-Line:

Devki Sabharwal (Sridevi), a biology teacher and one who leads her happy life with her husband and two daughters. Out of her two daughters, one is step-daughter named aarya. There are acceptability issues between the two.

Devki reprimands her student Mohit when he sends his classmate Arya an objectionable video clip. On Valentine’s Day, Arya goes with her classmates to a party in a farmhouse where she rejects Mohit’s offer to dance with him. And that moment mohit's gang brutally rapped Aarya in one car and soon finds herself hospitalised. A police case ensues and after the investigators fail to deliver Arya justice, Devki takes the reins in her hands. This forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

This is Sridevi’s three hundredth film. She gave mesmerizing performance especially when she knows her daughter rapped by someone and in climax.

National award winning actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the private detective Dayashankar Kapoor aka DK, with an interesting get-up initially seems walking through his character. But over a period, you realise that his efforts are worth a mention.

Akshaye Khanna is okay in the one-dimensional role of Mathew Samuel, the investigating crime branch officer. He has nothing much to perform.

Sajal Ali as Arya, delivers her part well in limited scenes.Adnan Siddiqui as Devki’s husband Anand Sabharwal, doesn't had scope to perform much. Rest of characters are okay in their roles.

Analysis:

Director Ravi Udaywar handled revenge story very well. He handled emotional scenes well.

Technical Values:

Music director A.R. Rahman gave brilliant music and back ground score and is haunting and is easily one of the highlights of the film. Cinematographer Anay Goswami’s frames are glossy. Dialogues are good jn parts.Production values are good. The film is made on a low budget but looks rich.

Thumbs up:

- Sridevi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui

- Treatment

- BGM

- Climax

Thumbs down:

- Runtime

- Parts of scenes

Final verdict:

MOM is a pretty revenge drama film which comes from great actors Sridevi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

The first half is going decent way and second half has some gripping scenes.

Watch if you like serious films.
