Behind the Screens:

Nandamuri Balakrishna has entered the pongal race with his landmark 100th film Gautamiputra Satakarni In association with director Krish. Balayya is attempting a historical film and bring an unsung hero to limelight with this movie. Let us see how the movie will entertain us.

Story:

It is the story of Satavahana Emperor, Satakarni who dreams of One Kingdom…One war for Akhanda Bharata Jathi. In the process, he conquers Kuntala, Kalyana Durgam and Saurashtra finally brings the entire North and South India under his rule. At the same time, Greek Emperor, Demetrius (Kabir Bedi) enters India to achieve the dream of Alexander conquering the entire globe. Rest of the story is all about the battle between them.

Performances:

Director Krish always maintained that he would not have made the film if not for Bala krishna. He justifies that with his one man show in the movie. He brings whole movie on his shoulders. Look wise he must should loose weight to maintain perfect fitness to show him as real warrior. He excelled in the action sequences perfectly. His dialogue delivery for this real Telugu warrior character is perfect. Shriya is good and apt as Vasishti Devi. Senior actress Hema Malini is good as mother Gautami. Kabir Bedi is okay in villain role. Rest of characters are okay in their roles.

Analysis:

Director Krish is always comes up with unique stories or those who haven't touched stories. Last time he came with Kanche and he stolen Telugu movie lovers hearts. May be his movies are not played commercially at box-office well but he has fans by coming with different social message films. The scenes of Satakarni taking his baby son to the battle and the scenes between Satakarni and Vasishti Devi before that will move the audience. The Rajasuya Yagam sequences are the heart of the film which says about the importance of mother. His story and screenplay are good. He made sure that the movie looks grand for the budget they spent.

Technical values:

Music director Chirantan Bhat has composed few good songs and the background score is excellent. Sounding system is good. Selection of Singers for songs is appreciated. As usual Sirivennela seetharamasasthri gave excellent lyrics for songs. The dialogues penned by Sai Madhav Burra are one of the biggest assets for the movie. War scenes are good but nothing special in it except very few.  Production Values are appropriate.

Thumbs up:
- First half
- Bala Krishna
- Epic Story
- BGM

Thumbs down:
- Post interval
- Balayya fitness

Final Verdict:
''Gautamiputra Satakarni'' is the story of a Telugu Warrior. The movie is mostly about of war sequences filled with perfect emotions.

The first half of the film is fully racy. The second half is a bit slow up to pre-climax war sequences.

Recommend to watch this movie in this festival season.
Worth watchable film from BalaKrishna.
